Games : pikey 0.2
Posted by yashamaru on 2007/5/4 21:52:34 (1044 reads)

Noobz.eu have released an update to ?Key v0.2 (or pikey). ?Key lets psp users use an IR keyboard in the XMB menu, games, web browser, and homebrew. I ordered and received the Targus Universal Wireless keyboard two days ago and have tested this very nice plug in. Keep in mind It works best in custom fw 3.10 OE A. I had to downgrade one of my PSPS to use this plug in.

In my tests ?Key works great in fw 3.10 OE A. Full control of the psp from a keyboard means a more powerful system all around. When it comes to games some just play better on a keyboard and it's good to have that option. not having to use an OSK (on screen keyboard) makes for a faster and better web browser. This is yet another great example of what’s right with homebrew and Sony really should take note.

Quote:

Major updates:

* A new keypress mode, which allows more natural use of the keyboard in action games etc. The default mode is now keypress mode, and the keyboard will switch automatically to text input mode when required.

* Custom key-to-button assignment - so now you can define WASD buttons for FPS game movement, as well as cursor keys for XMB movement, for instance.

* Support for mapping keypresses to analog joystick movements.

* Support for converting keypresses into Danzeff OSK presses - so now you can use your physical keyboard with homebrew that uses the Danzeff virtual keyboard - e.g. AFKIM.

* Installer now fixed to correctly install to flash0, to support GAME150 homebrew.

* Palm UW keyboard ought to at least partially work, but I can't test it myself.

* Optional on-screen status information.

* Various minor bugfixes.

Games : 3.40 OE-A Custom Firmware
Posted by yashamaru on 2007/5/4 15:15:11 (1153 reads)

Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg have released a new custom Firmware 3.40 OE-A. This New Custom Firmware works by converting fw3.40 and fw1.5 into a new Firmware.

Image from Metal Gear Solid VR Missions - PSX on PSP

Note: again I don't post anything here I have not tested myself. I have used this custom firmware on 4 TA-082 PSPs and 1 original fw1.5 (TA-079) and it works great. Thx Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg.

Quote:

Creating the DXAR file
- Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME/ if you are using 1.50 firmware and to /PSP/GAME150 if you are using whatever version of 2.71 SE or 3.xx OE.

- Get the 1.50 and 3.40 Sony updaters in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "340.PBP".

- Run the program. This program won't write to the flash, it will just create a file called DATA.DXAR in the same directory (oeupdmaker).

- The program will verify that the SHA-1 of the generated file is correct.

- Once that you have done this, you can save the DATA.DXAR file to skip this step in the future.

Flashing 3.40 OE

- Copy the directories 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME (or /PSP/GAME150 if you are on 2.71 SE or 3.xx OE)

- Copy the generated DATA.DXAR file at oeflasher directory.

- Run the flasher. If your battery is less than 75%, the program will show the error saying that and will return to the XMB.

- After finished, shutdown the psp and restart manually... to 3.40 OE :)

Warning: There is always a chance that you may brick your PSP when running a Custom Firmware, so please Follow ALL directions exactly. If you try this it's at your own risk.

Games : PSPRadio 1.18.1377
Posted by yashamaru on 2007/4/4 20:25:41 (914 reads)

Raf has updated PSPRadio. This release fixes many small bugs and is a must have Homebrew app. PSPRadio for anyone that dose not know is a wifi streaming audio player that uses Shoutcast to play internet radio on the psp (or mp3s off your memory stick).

Changelog:

NEW FEATURES
(raf) TextUI: Msgbox now goes away after 3sec (not based on frames rendered anymore, but time).
(raf) Core: (Supported by TextUI) Framerate configuration file is now set globally in PSPRadio.cfg (PLUGINS:DISPLAY_FPS)
(raf) TextUI: Now uses GU more; which reduces flickering and improves framerate.
(raf) TextUI: Cleaned up the way stream time and info is displayed while on fullscreen visualization mode.

BUG FIXES
(raf) Core: PSPRadio would crash on startup if the visualizer plugin was disabled.
(raf) Core: PSPRadio would crash on startup if the SHOUTcast database (newdb.xml) file was empty.
(raf) TextUI: Corrected problem where PSPRadio would crash when downloading the SHOUTcast database. (The problem was caused by lack of complete support for values -1 and -2 in the configuration files after the TextUI rendering changes.
(raf) TextUI: Corrected problem that caused a crash when switching from TextUI3d to TextUI.
(raf) Core: Corrected problem that caused a crash on restore from suspend mode when the wifi was enabled. Now it will also resume play.
(raf) Core: Disabled UI rendering while shutting down; this makes sure the "shutting down" screen is not drawn over.

KNOWN BUGS
(raf) TextUI: When switching skins all the text will disappear. This happens on occasion. Just move up or down for the text to re-render.
OE related Problems on this release
(raf) Core: Static IP connections don't work correctly. Seems the gateway is not used as it should. (Also, make sure CPU speed is 222 when establishing a WiFi connection). Possible solution, if you have a proxy server in your network, set it up in PSPRadio.cfg. A static IP may work then. (This is untested).

Luaplayer : Lua-Pac-Man v0.1 beta

Update #14

Lua-Pac-Man v0.1 beta is now at an open release state. This release adds the requested (Thanks to: mr_nick666) skin mod menu. The Skin mod menu makes changing sprites easy just make a folder with your mods name and add some images also skin mods change everything from the intro loop, intermissions, and of course the game. I have added four skin mods to show how easy it is.

There is also a test in this release of the next mod menu item, Gametype mods. Gametype mods change how a game is played. One Gametype mod is in this release Space Invader. This simple game shows the idea but still has a long way to go.
