Games : 3.03 OE-A [Custom Firmware]
|
| Posted by yashamaru on 2007/1/17 1:07:19 (1619 reads) |
Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg have released a new custom Firmware 3.03 OE-A. This New Custom Firmware works by converting fw3.03 and fw1.5 into a new Firmware 3.03 OE-A. 3.03 OE-A also adds the some fixes to the PSX emulator Sony updated in 3.03.
The emulator can now run compressed PSX games. One of my favorite is cowboy bebop, my backup image of the game is 724MB with the compression it's down to 186MB. Note: not all games will compress this much but it all helps.
Image from Cowboy Bebop - PSX on PSP
Note: again I don't post anything here I have not tested myself. I have used this custom firmware on 1 TA-082 PSPs and 1 original fw1.5 (TA-079) and it works great. Thx Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg.
Quote: Creating the DXAR file - Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME/ if you are using 1.50 firmware and to /PSP/GAME150 if you are using whatever version of 2.71 SE or 3.02 OE. - Get the 1.50 and 3.03 Sony updaters in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "303.PBP".
- Run the program. This program won't write to the flash, it will just create a file called DATA.DXAR in the same directory (oeupdmaker).
- The program will verify that the SHA-1 of the generated file is correct.
- Once that you have done this, you can save the DATA.DXAR file to skip this step in the future.
Flashing 3.03 OE
- Copy the directories oeflasher and oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME (or /PSP/GAME150 if you are on 2.71 SE or 3.02 OE) - Copy the generated DATA.DXAR file at oeflasher directory.
- Run the flasher. If your battery is less than 75%, the program will show the error saying that and will return to the XMB.
- After finished, shutdown the psp and restart manually... to 3.03 OE :)

Warning: There is always a chance that you may brick your PSP when running a Custom Firmware, so please Follow ALL directions exactly. If you try this it's at your own risk.

Update After you have 3.03 OE-A up and running download and run OE-B (update). This update will only take about 5 seconds and will remove some of the limits on videos.
* You can play 480X272 (full screen) AVC Now

Games : HEND 2.71
|
| Posted by yashamaru on 2007/1/16 19:30:00 (1684 reads) |
This one is old but still good. I got a request today for more info on HEND so here it is. HEND uses a hack found in version 2.71 tiff images on the PSP. This hack unlocks the PSP and will make it able to run homebrew/unsigned code.
HEND - Instructions
- Copy all contents inside MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick. - Go to the PHOTO viewer of the XMB and enter in the folder "HENB". - If the psp just freeze, reboot your psp and try again. Currently the tiff is very unstable and it is only executed sometimes. I'll try to improve that in the future. - The first time you run the program, you will see quickly a blue screen, and after that a screen that can be of two colors:
* Red: the files couldn't be written to the flash (it hapens a few times). Just keep trying.
* Green: The files were written succesfully. After that, the xmb will be rebooted. Now you can run the homebrew in format prepared for 2.71. (see details below).
- As mentioned before, the patch will remain resident in memory, and even entering sleep mode won't delete it. Only a hardware reset will remove the program from memory.
- When you do a hardware reset, you'll have to run the tiff again. This time there won't be green or red screen, just a blue screen and xmb reboot, since this time there is no need to write to the flash.
Note: the files pspbtknf.txt, pspbtknf_game.txt, pspbtknf_updater, and systemctrl.prx in the root of the memory stick are only needed the first time the program is executed. After that you can delete those. However, don't delete patch.bin, h.bin and the folder with the tiff, since you will need those the next time you do a hard reset and want to run the program again.

If when using the psp you or someone else deletes just the HEND folder in the PHOTO menu you can download it here |

Games : 3.02 OE-A Custom Firmware

Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg have released 3.02 OE-A. 3.02 OE-A is a custom Firmware for your fw1.5 PSP (or 2.71-SE). This Custom Firmware works by converting fw3.02 and fw1.5 into a new Firmware 3.02 OE. 3.02 OE also adds the limited but very nice PSX emulator made by Sony into a true emulator. The emulator has already been hacked and converting your Playstation favorites into EBOOTs is very easy.

Note: I don't post anything here I have not tested myself. I have used this custom firmware on 2 TA-082 PSPs and one orignal fw1.5 (TA-079) and it worked great. Thx Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg.

|
| Posted by yashamaru on 2006/12/30 18:10:00 (3766 reads) |
Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg have released the first TA-082 downgrader for PSPs with firmware 2.71 and running HEND. First things first. Warning: There is always a chance that you may brick your PSP when running a downgrader, so please Follow ALL directions exactly. If you try this it's at your own risk.
Note: I don't post anything here I have not tested myself. I have used this downgrader on 2 TA-082 PSPs and it worked great. Thx Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Harleyg.
Q.) how do I know if my PSP has a TA-082 motherboard?

A.) Open your UMD drive and look at the green motherboard. You should see IC1003 upside down. This is a TA-082 motherboard PSP that can now be downgraded.
Quote: 2.71 TA-082 downgrader - Instructions
- Copy the UPDATE and idstoragechange folders into /PSP/GAME/ - Get the official sony 1.50 eboot and put it in the /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder with the name of UPDATE.PBP
- Run HEN-D if you are not already running it.
- Execute the idstoragechange. It needs 75% battery. It will change some keyes of your idstorage needed to downgrade the ta-082.
- The program will exit to the XMB. Now execute the generic downgrade, which will show in the xmb as "Update X.YX" in the psp language.
- The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. IT will downgrade your psp to 1.50.
- At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the psp. Do it.
- If all went fine, you'll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and reenter your settings. Welcome to 1.50.
- If things didn't go that fine, you'll have a non-functional psp, aka brick. You accepted that risk, remember.
Download: EBOOT 1.50
Download: 2.71 TA-082 Downgrader
Q.) I have a TA-082 PSP but Im at system version 2.60 what do I do?
A.) Download the 2.71 update and install it. Then download and install HEND
Download: EBOOT 2.71
Q.) What if I have a TA-082 PSP and its at version 2.71 but don't have HEND installed?
A.) Download and install HEND. You can see if HEND is installed and running by looking in your PSP menu under 'settings' go down to 'system settings' then down to 'system information' under System software it should say 2.71 HEND

Apps : PSP Box Code - What Firmware is it?
|
| Posted by yashamaru on 2006/12/15 12:00:00 (3332 reads) |
People keep asking, so here it is again..A-K
I’ve received a lot of questions about what firmware versions are in the boxes at stores. It's easy to check the boxes at your local stores by looking under the voltage rating for a letter. Letters A-K will give you (full) homebrew and remember don't update
This images shows an 'A' PSP
no letter = 1.0 (Japanese Release) 1.5 (North-American release) confirmed A = 1.5 confirmed B = 1.51 confirmed C = 1.52 confirmed D = 1.52 confirmed E = 1.52 confirmed F = 2.0 confirmed G = 2.01 confirmed H = 2.50 confirmed I = 2.60 confirmed J = 2.70 unconfirmed K = 2.71 confirmed L = 2.81 confirmed
I hope this helps people looking to get a PSP this time of year |

Apps : SanDisk And Sony Develop Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo Format
|
| Posted by yashamaru on 2006/12/11 8:43:38 (2592 reads) |
SanDisk® Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) and Sony Corporation today announced the development of the “Memory Stick PRO-HG” format expanded from the “Memory Stick PRO” format.

The new “Memory Stick PRO-HG” media uses an enhanced, 8-bit parallel interface in addition to a conventional serial and 4-bit parallel interface. The interface clock frequency also increases to 60MHz from 40MHz. This means that maximum data transfer speed increases up to 480Mbps, or 60MB/s (theoretical value), three times as fast as that of “Memory Stick PRO” media. The minimum write speed at 8-bit parallel transfer is 120 Mbps, or 15MB/s*1. These enhancements allow large data amounts of up to several gigabytes to be quickly transferred, as well as the real-time recording of high-resolution video and still images.

Licensing for the development of “Memory Stick PRO-HG” compliant host devices is scheduled for January 2007. |

The PSP GPS Receiver is now on sale in Japan (and online). Play-Asia has the GPS for US$59.90. Now the real question is will this work in devhook 51 emulated 3.01/3.02? (it should) I don't know as of yet, but as soon as I get my hands on one I'll let you know.

Apps : Lua-Pac-Man Release date and MK-Fatalities?
|
| Posted by yashamaru on 2006/11/1 0:00:00 (826 reads) |
This First post of November will let everyone know what I'm working on and what I have planned for this month. Lua-Pac-Man is still in alpha stage but the release is coming soon. How soon? Well less then 20 days (as long as I'm not hit by a truck or something). release date has now been set for November 19, 2006.
image shows the animated Intro/Main Menu
Last week I started working on another game, MK-Fatalities (working title). What is MK-Fatalities? Well if you guessed it has something to do with Mortal Kombat and or fatalities you would be right.
MK-Fatalities (or Mortal Kombat - Fatalities) is a simple game using some of the code I made for MK-TestYourMight v0.0. I have mapped out Subzero (Only) at this point but added many more Fatalities then the first Mortal Kombat and why not the fatalities are my favorite part of the game. More Fatalities sure can't hurt the game or anyone (other then the guy your killing).
This image shows the first fatality added to the game. Classic Subzero
This could also lead to a MK-One (Mortal Kombat I clone), since I have an early build of MK-TestYourMight, but at this point that’s far (2007?) down the road (since Id have to map out everyone from Mortal Kombat I). More info coming soon
always, have fun |
